Review 7/23/2010

I did not have a pleasant experience at this auto shop. I have a 1988 Chevy pickup that stalled in January 2010 just down the road from this repair shop. They had it for three months and never fixed it. In fact, when I picked it up to take it somewhere else, the transmission didn't work any longer. I had excuse after excuse about an unreliable mechanic that didn't show up for work or, if he did come to work, the test drive didn't reveal a specific problem. The only work they did was what they called a "tune-up" that we were charged $90 for. We were told by the second shop we took it to that the wrong cable was put on the distributor and too much lube was put on the spark plug cable so it kept falling off. I called Ponder's shop and asked them to replace the cable and was met with a very defensive owner. He said he stood behind his mechanic's work and would not replace anything. The second shop was quite shocked saying it is industry standard to replace a cable if you put the wrong one on during a tune-up. This could have been resolved with a quick cable swap. For this reason, I cannot recommend this shop if you have auto repair needs.
