Review 12/11/2009
I am here to recount yet another story of this company's scandalous business practices. (There are many on the Internet that you can find via a Google search.) I ordered the 14-day free trial of the electronic cigarette on November 2, 2009. You sign up, give them your information, and they charge you $9.95. But… you do not get your order shipped until you answer their phone call, hear their sales pitch, and decline to purchase the product. (This should’ve been a red flag, but I figured I’d play along with the company just to see what all of this e-cigarette hype was about.) According to the company, the product was "sent" on November 4, 2009. USPS did not receive the electronic information from them (Tracking Number 9101 1480 0860 0328 2554 76) until November 5, 2009. So, at this point, it is November 5th or 6th, and the product is finally leaving their warehouse. Keep in mind that this is a 14-day free trial offer and that the offer began on November 2, 2009. (It ends when the product arrives in their hands.) I sent the product back to them via USPS on November 13, 2009. It arrived at their location on November 16, 2009. They still charged me $99.02. While this charge was still pending, I tried to contact Bank of America to get the charge removed as I explained that I had returned the product within 14 days. They can't dispute charges which are still pending. I called Smoking Everywhere's “customer service” (by pressing 3 at the automated system). I get repeatedly directed to a sales representative. He then tells me he will transfer me to customer service. I get transferred right back to him. Obviously their customer service reps are tied up dealing with other fraudulent orders they’ve made. Unable to contact them via this avenue, I e-mailed them. They said that when they received the product, they would issue a refund. Weeks later, a charge for $17.84 shows up on my credit card statement. I wait for it to post then call Bank of America to dispute both charges. Bank of America calls Smoking Everywhere and gets in touch with a customer service representative (relatively quickly). This lady explains that I returned my e-cigarette outside of the trial period. November 2, 2009 counting as the first day, the final day they could've received the package was November 15, 2009. (It arrived on the 16th.) The $17.84 was courtesy of their monthly refill plan in which they took the pleasure of enrolling me. THIS COMPANY IS INCREDIBLY SCANDALOUS. BE PREPARED FOR HOURS OF FRUSTRATION AND HEADACHES DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SMOKING EVERYWHERE. The e-cigarette itself tastes pretty awful. It tastes like you are freebasing water to be honest. And it is incredibly harsh on your lungs. The e-cigarette gave me a hacking cough that smoking never did. That is neither here nor there in light of this company’s shady business practices though.
